QUALITY PAYS AT BRISTOL It was obvious that quality and presentation was the order of the day at the autumn show and sale of Aberdeen Angus held at the Bristol Sales Centre on Thursday 12th October 2006. Topping the sale at 1,900gns was a very attractive cow and calf outfit shown by Mark Pilcher of St. Ives, Cornwall. Gaer Miss Bony, a fourth calved daughter of Nightingale Pretender and in calf to Lockerley Arnie, sold with her heifer calf at foot Gaer Breeze. She was purchased by new breeder B Sellick of Taunton, Somerset. The events overall champion came from Somerset breeder Colin Hutching of Kingsbrompton Farm, Dulverton. West Bovey Jasmine Erica, a daughter of Fairoaks Exchequer, was sold along with her April born bull calf at foot Kingsbrompton Jasmine Eric. Erica is no stranger to the show ring having already collected many first prize rosettes during this years show season. At 1,500gns she was sold to R & FK Westcott, Wilmersham Farm, Minehead, Somerset. Also selling for 1,500gns was an in calf heifer from Mr & Mrs Willie Robertson’s Nightingale herd based at Pershore, Worcs. Nightingale Gracie, a January 2005 heifer sired by Nightingale Prince Jet, she goes to WM Harris & Ptrs of Dukes Farm, Chepstow. Leading the maiden heifer class also at 1,500gns was Kingsbrompton Jacata Erica a Gogland Maximus daughter, shown by Colin Hutching, Erica, like her stable mate, has also won various red tickets during the summer shows. She was successfully bought by MA Stephens of Mount Pleasant Farm, Truro. The next entry into the sale ring sold for 1,400gns and cam from Lockerley Hall Farm. Their sole entry, Lockerley Kind Princess, a Idvies Euris sired daughter and out of a Northern Eastern Cruz bred mother, she goes to AE & C Bishop of Church Farm, Wokingham. The sale included three dispersal sales which included the Beechcombe herd from GR, BJ & KP Mott, selling to 950gns for Hayrish Evening Tinge and her bull calf Beechcombe Edward. The second herd dispersal was the Sweeton herd from Louise White which sold to 560gns for Bosullow Miss Bella and her unregistered bull calf, and the final herd to be sold was the Gadevalley herd from Mr & Mrs RH Biggs which sold to a top of 520gns for Gadevalley Vanity Fair and her heifer calf Gadevalley Vanity Faye.
