The last Border & Lakeland Holstein club show and sale of the season held at Borderway Mart, Carlisle saw a fine selection of correct functional heifers suitable for our large dairy operations along with one or two special individuals, with trade slightly up on the month to show an average of over £1,200 for the heifers sold.

The show was expertly was judged by Andrew Hodge from the Cheviotview Holsteins, his Champion of the day went to J Bryson & Son from Dykehead Farm, Lesmahagow. It was a daughter Ricecrest Carlos recently fresh in her second lactation and looking like a potential high scoring VG cow. She sold for 1,300gns and now joins Messrs BD Kennedy of West Carngillan, Tarbolton, Ayrshire.

The Reserve Champion and top price went to James Currie & Son of Carlinside, Lanark for a fresh Braedale Freelance daughter descending from four generations of VG dams. She now joins the herd of Allan Alston’s, Drumchapel Estate, Brechin, Angus for 2,000gns.

At 1,450gns Seabreeze Rubens Moya joins A & D & NS Sanderson, Burtholme Farm, Lanercost. She was sired by Windy-Knoll-View Rubens Pro a son of last years All American 5yo consigned by WC Leak & Son of Hill Farm, Seascale.

Messrs S & A Morley of Petteril Bank, Southwaite, consigned the third top price of the day. Fresh on the 1st November this very fancy Rubens daughter now joins the herd of DG Morgan & AD Hughes of Little Auchengibbert, Ayrshire.
