The herd of Countesswells Holsteins came under the hammer at Borderway on Wednesday 18th October 2006. Many great families had been developed throughout more than thirty-five years in the business and were purchased by breeders both north and south of the border.

Countesswells Roanoke Queenie 2 realised the top price of the day of 2,050gns. Sired by Ladys-Manor Roanoke, this freshly calved heifer sold to TA & E Jackson, Guillyhill, Holywood, Dumfries.

Messrs Brough, Buckabank, Dalston snapped up Countesswells Ace Lilian GP82. Bred from EX91 Astre and sired by Oseeana Integrity Ace, this powerful second calved young cow sold for 1,700gns.

Countesswells Derry Vall EX90 bred from 3 generations of EX or VG cows from the Twizzlefoot Vall VG88 family was sold for 1,350gns to the Billincote herd of GJ Mutton, Dalton In Furness. Sold to the same herd was Countesswells Jordan Vall PI VG87. The fifth generation of Excellent or VG cows she sold bred back to Pine-Shelter Laramee Mor for 1,300gns.

Also from the Vall family was Countesswells Initial Vall VG85, sired by Inch Initial. This young cow, freshly calved into her second lactation sold for 1,350gns to Mesrs Lawrie, Grange Hall Farm, Pettinain, Lanark.
