Dispersal of 148 HOLSTEIN CATTLE The dispersal sale of 148 milk recorded Holsteins for PA Arbuckle & Sons, Lundie Castle, Dundee clearly indicated the demand for exceptional commercial dairy cattle. A strong emphasis had been concentrated towards breeding for good feet and legs and well attached and udders and certainly paid off in the sale ring with 43 animals at £1000 up to a top price of £1400. The top price of £1400 was for an in-calf heifer sired by Cogent Conrad. She was sold to JJ & JD Graves, Priory Farm, Armathwaite, Carlisle. WC & DJ Copland, Nether Collinhurst, Ecclefechan purchased a freshly calved young cow in her third lactation for £1320. Also going to Nether Collinhurst was a daughter of Lisduff Webpage, freshly calved into her second lactation, for £1200. Volume buyer Mr J Sedgewick Hope House Farm, Mordon Sedgefield, Stockton On Tees purchased a freshly calved young cow by Aquila Patron Lucente for £1,280 along with a recently calved Eastland Figaro daughter for £1200.
