Colin Taylor, South Walton Farm, Newton Mearns joined with many friends and Holstein Friesian breeders to disperse the first section of his Craiglea Herd of pedigree dairy cattle. This fantastic herd of truly outstanding cattle from a Renfrewshire hill farm, has been in Colin’s management for 50 years. His focus on high type, high production and longevity was evident to see at Borderway on Wednesday 13th September 2006.

The top price was for cover-girl Craiglea Storm Carmen EX91. This young Storm daughter in her third lactation sold to A&I Lamont, Sandieston Farm, Lochwinnoch for 2,300gns. Still milking at 33kgs daily, she sold in calf to Comestar Lheros. Also entering the Barsan herd of Archie & Ivy Lamont is Craiglea Remarkable Electra VG86. Sired by Townlaw Remarkable, and in her second lactation she is currently giving 47kgs.

Craiglea Jackson Gem VG87

Craiglea Jackson Gem VG87 2Yr, show heifer, from the Craiglea Gem family, sold for 2,200gns. This tall, stylish heifer sold to an undisclosed Scottish buyer.

Craiglea Remarkable Electra VG86

Young breeders Andrew & Ewan Lawrie, Grange Hall Farm, Pettinain, Lanark knew quality when they seen it! Craiglea Igniter Gem VG87, by Summershade Igniter was recently fresh in August in her second lactation and sold for 1,850gns. Also heading to Grange Hall was another VG87 young cow, Craiglea Lady Bletchley 10. She is due in December to Comestar Lheros and has completed a lactation of over 13,000kgs, she sold for 1350gns.
