Despite the falling and ever depressing milk price, trade remains strong for fresh heifers and young cows. Jim Currie, Carlinside Holsteins, professionally judged the show. His Champion of the day was a Shen-Val Formation from Boustead Holsteins just fresh and looking like a real dairy heifer.
The top price of the day was 1650gns. This was achieved for three animals equally. WA & M Mounsey, Walton, Brampton consigned Edenfauld Journalist Molly. Bred by J Metcalfe, this Journalist heifer from a VG Lindy was sold to A&DM&N&S Sanderson, Burtholme Farm, Lanercost, Brampton for 1,650gns. Also selling to Burtholm Farm for 1650gns was Petteril Rubens Jennifer PI consigned by Steven & Anne Morley, Petteril Bank, Southwaite. Mr Forbes, Dykehead, Carlisle claimed Hailstone Freeman Blaze for 1,650gns. This Braedale Freeman daughter, just freshly calved was consigned by Mark Wilson, Ormside, Appleby.
The champion of the show was Boustead Formation Daisy shown by Martin & Julie Gaitskell, Burgh By Sands, Carlisle. MJL Simpson & Son, Waingatehead, Kirklinton, Carlisle claimed this 1st placed heifer for 1600gns. Leading Prices
