The Border & Lakeland Holstein Club Show & Sale hosted another great turn out by all consignors involved on Wednesday 15th March 2006. Demand, paralleled with a reduced supply, made for progressive trade remaining strong. The judging was carried out by Jim Hull of Fortland Holsteins. The Champion and top price of the female sale went to Skirwith Hall Farms for Stowbeck Kendall Hilary GP84. This stylish heifer was purchased by DR & HM Horsley, LTD, Woodhouse, Catterlen, Penrith for 1850gns.
The reserve Champion Crossrigg Viscountess 4 was consigned by F Harrison & Sons. Sired by Startmore Rudolph and out of the Ewefields Viscountess family, this heifer sold for 1,420gns to DG Morgan & AD Hughes, Little Auchengibbert, Cumnock. Overside Morty Elusive realised the second top price of the day of 1,450gns. Consigned by WW Neilson, Strathaven, this Stouder Morty daughter was bred from a VG86 Jolt and then EX94 6E Raider who was imported from Germany. She was purchased by A&DM&N&S Sanderson, Burtholme, Lanercost. New consignor, RF Forsyth, Baltier, Whithorn made some of the top prices. Baltier Donna 53, a fresh heifer sired by Baltier Emerson realised 1,400gns and enters the herd of JF Gillanders, Home Farm, Arnage, Ellon. At 1,220gns Baltier Gelpro Janette sold to Andrew Sloan, Uppermoor, Lockerbie.
