St Johns Chapel Sale of Warranted and Unwarranted Swaledale Ewes, Gimmer Shearlings and Gimmer Lambs and Cont Rams

On Saturday at St Johns Chapel Mart, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their annual sale of 2,946 Breeding Sheep comprising 2,008 Swaledale Breeding & feeding Ewes & Shearlings, 918 Swaledale Gimmer Lambs and 20 Rams.

There was a lively atmosphere at the ringside with 650 more sheep sold than last year showing support for the centre and encouragement for vendors & purchasers for the future years at St John’s Chapel Mart.

The Sale averaged similar to last year. This year’s averages were as follows:-
Breeding Ewes £53.84 (-£1.44)
Feeding Ewes £13.60 (no change)
Swaledale Gimmer Lambs £29.71 (+ £1.99)
Swaledale Gimmer Shearlings £62.62 (-£4.68)
