Kirkby Stephen Gimmer Lambs

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their second sale of mule gimmer lambs at Kirkby Stephen on Friday where there were 1,011 head. The pre sale show for pens of 10 lambs from NEMSA members was generously sponsored by Thomas J Ewbank of EWTAG sheep tags, Bolton, Appleby and judging was carried out by Mr Robert Fawcett, Blencowe. A good line up of lambs in the show saw the following results given:-

1st - NEMSA Rosette & Midland Bank Trophy – J & S E Bainbridge, Dousgill
2nd – P & E M Pratt, Intake Bottom
3rd – J & J Burrows, Thursgill
4th – D J & S Atkinson, Abbey Park

The champion lambs went on to sell to the judge at £77 per head. The top price of £80 per head was achieved by P & E M Pratt, Intake Bottom purchased by R Stevenson, Howgill Foot. A sale average of £49.02 was recorded, up £2.08 on the year.
