KIRKBY STEPHEN BREEDING SHEEP

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their Annual New Fair Sale of breeding sheep at Kirkby Stephen Mart on Thursday where 1,945 head were presented comprising 705 ewes, shearlings & hoggs with 1,115 lambs and 125 gimmer hoggs.

A prize show was held for pens of 10 Mule Gimmer Hoggs with lambs at foot with prizes kindly sponsored by Taylor & Braithwaite, Dyke Nook, Sandford and judging carried out by Mr R Wilson, Armathwaite.  The following awards were given:-

1st    Winter Bros, Clickham - £77
2nd   M/s. Sowerby, Terrys Farm - £70
3rd    M/s. Sowerby, Terrys Farm - £66

A full ringside of buyers were all keen to purchase stock and produced a trade that exceeded vendor’s expectations, with quality outfits in good demand.
