Kirkby Stephen Annual Sale of Breeding Cattle, Store Cattle & Feeding Cows

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their Annual Special Sale of 800 head of cattle at Kirkby Stephen on Monday 13th November 2006 comprising 49 Geld Cows, 213 Store Cattle and 538 head of Beef Breeding Cattle. Geld Cows saw a varied selection peaking at 101.50 p/kg for a Belgian Blue from J W Porter & Sons, Low Oxnop. Average 61.32 p/kg

A mixed entry of Strong Stores & Suckled Calves easily sold to maintain recent rates. The Annual Sale of Beef breeding cattle saw trade on a high note with many quality cattle forward peaking at £2,000 for a Belgian Blue Heifer with Limousin Bull Calf from G & H R Shields, Tarn House, who also sold another outfit at £1,700. Messrs Robinson, Prospect Farm sold a fantastic run of 12 Heifers with Calves topping at £1,450 to average £1,232. In calf cattle were keenly contested especially quality heifers to £1,250 twice from J & J E Bradley, Penyghent.
