Monday 8th March Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held
their first Kirkby Classic show and sale of potential show cattle which
proved to be a great success with a over flowing ring of prospective
purchasers and vendors. [report]
Harrison & Hetherington’s two-day show and sale at Borderway, on March 19th and 20th is expected once again to draw one of the biggest entries of quality continental cross store cattle in the country, many with show potential. Entries in 2009 topped 2,500, with 1,250 heifers on the first day of the sale and 1300 steers on the second day, attracting buyers - including those looking for cattle with show potential - from all over the country. Durham
breeders Peter and James Weightman of the Hallfield herd based at Peterlee
secured the leading price of 7,000gns at the early spring show and sale
for the Blonde Society at Carlisle on Friday 5th March. [report]
The
first instalment of the Holywood Holstein Dispersal of 250 recently calved
and close to calving cows and heifers was held in Borderway on Wednesday
3rd March. As one would expect for such a well regarded herd there was
a packed ringside of local and distant pedigree and commercial buyers
who bid strongly all day. [report]
