Fairburn Estate sold their herd of Pedigree Holsteins at Borderway on
7th May.The herd
was a credit to the owners and manager; they were high quality Holsteins
with a tremendous combination of width and dairyness. Superb udders were
the norm, and this was evident in the top price of the sale.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their Annual Special Prize Show & Sale
of store cattle at Kirkby Stephen Mart on Monday 5th May where an
entry of 1,315 head was forward. Trade for quality stores was exceptionally
strong resulting in an overall average of £638.76 up £75.63
on the year.

The
prolific Haltcliffe herd of Messrs Ridley, Haltcliffe, Hesket New Market,
provided the outstanding highlight of a buoyant 25th Annual British Limousin
Cattle Society Sale on Saturday 3rd May. A tremendous line-up
Haltcliffe bulls with shape, muscle and top bloodlines saw the Ridleys
gross £116,340
from their team of 11 bulls to average a truly mighty £10,576 apiece. [report]
